VOICES FOR HOSPICES

With Cankids…Kidscan having decided to participate in 2010 world-wide Voices for Hospices, we are inviting the Supporters of Hospice and music lovers in Delhi to participate in the event.

Voices for Hospices is the world's largest musical event

It is a global event that gives local hospices the opportunity to raise funds, awareness and practical support within their own communities and offers an opportunity for all of us to do our bit – as performers, workers’ behind the scenes’ or audience.

Theme for this year for World Hospice and palliative care day is “Discovering your voice” highlighting the need for the voices of people affected by life-limiting illness, their families and carers to be heard. Music plays a vital role in our daily well-being on many levels.
For those who face severe health issues, the music can bring comfort and offer a means of expressing feelings that might otherwise go unstated.  Music has the capacity to breathe harmony into the soul. The hospice Movement brings harmony to those in pain and distress. This fact brings special meaning to Voices for Hospices, 2010. The purpose of this remarkable musical event is to raise awareness about cancer affected families that are coping with such issues and to increase support for Hospice programs designed to help them.

A tribute to the bravery and courage of the children who fought the battle and lost it, this event aims at creating awareness about Palliative care & Hospices and the important programs available to help bereaved families and terminally ill cancer affected children; and at raising funds for their treatment, care and counseling. Besides, it provides a learning experience for school children as they actively engage in creating, organizing and marketing the event.

As a part of this programme, on the 22nd of January 2010, Cankids…Kidscan & American Embassy School (AES)- Cankids Companion Club have organized a rock band competition at their school AES from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will involve participation & performance by 6 leading educational institutions of Delhi – AES, British School, DPS R.K.Puram,The Heritage School-Vasant Kunj,Vasant Valley School-Vasant Kunj & Amity University-Noida.
The participants will also present an item together with our cancer survivors. Children with cancer and their families will attend the function as special guests, and 12 families whose children have lost their battles to cancer will be specially honored and Memorial awards will be given to participants, in their name, in recognition of their bravery and courage.

A “Wall of Fame” depicting pictures of the loved ones who are no more with us due to the disease will also be presented. This will be a concert that entire families can attend and enjoy. The performers will be talented and diverse, we want an evening that raises awareness and support for end-of-life care and brings recognition to the tremendous caliber of performance and upcoming artists in our city. With an event like this, we have the best place to showcase Delhi's vocal talent through this program.
