BOARD OF GOVERNORS
Ms. Pooam Bagai , a Colon Cancer Survivor, is the founder and president of Cankids...KidsCan, a registered charitable National Society working to make a Change for Childhood Cancer in India.
She is the Vice Chairman of Pallium India, a charitable trust dedicated to providing equality palliative care in India for terminally ill people. She is a member of Cancer Sahyog, an emotional support group of survivors and caregivers. She supports the Forum for Breast Cancer Protection. She is also an alumna of the American Cancer Society University.
She was born in the city of Bhopal and did her schooling from Convent of Jesus and Mary, New Delhi. She graduated in B.A Hons in Economics from St. Stephens College, Delhi University in 1983 and was a University Rank Holder. She was a scholarship holder at the Delhi School of Economics where she was enrolled to do her Masters in Economics. She joined the Government of India as a Class 1 Officer in the Indian Railway Account Services in 1984 and has also worked as a transport consultant with the United Nations - ESCAP for 3 years from 1995, on ex-India leave.
Mukul Marwah is a Class 1 officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service of 1982 batch. He has served in the Government for over 31 years holding various charges including Chief PRO Central Railway, CPTM on the Western Railway. He was born and brought up in Ajmer, Rajasthan and studied MA in English Literature from the University of Ajmer. He has been a National Level Table tennis champion in junior league. His wife is an OB-GYN in private practice in Mumbai for more than past 27 years. They have one son, who is married and lives with them in Mumbai. Mukul has an abiding interest in books, literature and music. He has been associated with Cankids since its inception as a unit of Indian Cancer Society as an Advisor for Administration, HR and Strategic Planning, in an informal capacity. He was known to Ms. Poonam Bagai, as a family friend and Railway colleague. He joined as a member of the management team of Western Region in 2010 in an honorary capacity. On transfer to NEF Railway, he joined the Eastern Region management team in similar capacity in 2011. He joined the first founding Board of the newly set up Cankids KidsCan Society as Vice Chairman on Jun 13, 2012.
Srinath Mukherji is an entrepreneur and an advisor with over 30 years of experience. He has worked with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), Arthur Little, Stern Stewart, Gartner Consulting and Deloitte Consulting in India, USA and Singapore. Co- founded or angel-funded business ventures in Microfinance, Housing finance, Business Intelligence, Enterprise Collaboration, Executive talent search and IT marketplaces for banks. His educational qualifications are B. Tech (IIT Kanpur), PGDM (IIM Ahmedabad), CPIM (APICS). Srinath lives in Gurgaon with his wife and 3 children. His interest includes music and reading. He was known to Ms. Bagai and joined Cankids in November 2014 as a volunteer to provide his expertise in management and technology towards the cause. He joined the BOG in Sept 2015 and is committed to using Information Technology to improve effectiveness and productivity within Cankids.
Sonal Sharma was born and brought up in Ajmer, Rajasthan. She did her schooling from St Mary's Convent and went to Sophia College from where she completed her BA Honors in English. She is a home maker and has an abiding interest in travelling, exploring new places and reading. Her husband is a government officer and they have a daughter together Shubhangi Sharma (Gungun). In October 1998 her daughter was diagnosed with Blood Cancer (ALL) and was treated at AIIMS, New Delhi where her treatment was completed in 2000. This journey led to a resolve of Ms. Sonal and her husband to dedicate themselves to the cause of helping children with cancer and their families. Sonal is the co-founder of Cankids and has actively involved in every aspect of the growth and expansion of Cankids model and services. Today, she serves as Director Parents and Survivor groups as well as Capacity Building in a completely Honorary capacity.
Dr. AMITA MAHAJAN
Dr. Amita Mahajan - MD, MRCP, CCST- is a Sr. Consultant Pediatric Hematology & Oncology. She received her undergraduate and post graduate training at AIIMS, New Delhi and has been awarded the GOLD Medal for being the best PG in Pediatrics . She trained and worked in the UK for over 9 years and did a Fellowship in BMT at Royal Hospital for Sick Children. Subsequently, Dr. Mahajan joined Indraprastha Apollo Hospital and set up the Pediatric Oncology Hematology and Oncology services. She joined the first founding Board of the newly set up Cankids KidsCan Society as Board member on Jun 13, 2012 and as the Secretary.
Priti Dhall is a Software Engineer from Mumbai University. She has over 15 years of Project Management experience in India with Godrej, TCS and Sapient Corporation and in the USA with Bolt, Beranek and Neumaan, GTE internet Working and Genuity. She studied at Vivekananda School and Vivekananda Education Society Institute of Technology, Mumbai and graduated in 1990. She is the wife of Mr. Soumya Banerjee, CEO of Adtano.com- an e-education services provider. Priti got involved with Cankids as volunteer in Delhi in December 2006- helping with Back Office, events and strategic Planning. She moved to Mumbai in June 2008 for her father's cancer treatment as Director NOP and Regional Director Mumbai( Hony) . She joined the first founding Board of the newly set up Cankids KidsCan Society as Board member on Jun 13, 2012 and as the Joint Secretary .
Mohit Agarwal, Director, Asian Tea Exports, Kolkata, has an extensive knowledge of tea production in India. His career began with him working at a leading tea production and export company and learning about the basic art of tea tasting, quality and blending from the grass root level on the floor of the tea factory and tea blending plant. Having 18 years of experience in tasting, he has mastered the art of tea tasting and blending. He has travelled extensively around the world, and has gained vast experience on different world tea markets.
He lives in Kolkata with his wife and 2 children.
Mohit was known to BOG member Avneesh Raghuvanshi and was recommended by him to support Cankids' cause in West Bengal when Cankids set up regional office there in 2011. Mr. Agarwal became part of the Senior Management Team of Cankids Unit of ICS Delhi Branch, in 2011- as Regional Director(Hony) Eastern Region. He hosted an introductory fundraiser in Kolkata as a networking exercise in 2011. He joined the first founding Board of the newly set up Cankids KidsCan Society as a Board member and the Regional Director (Hony) in June , 2013.
