Sometimes a Blanket is All That Stands Between Life and Death!
Give The Gift Of Warmth to Cancer Patients in Street Shelters
I’m Syna Pal, I study in grade 11 IBDP at JNIS. It shocked me to learn that these kids who apart from battling cancer have to struggle to even keep themselves warm at night on the streets. So I decided to take this initiative forward and do everything I can to ensure that these kids are provided with blankets to sleep comfortably during the winter.
It’s hard losing a loved one to cancer and even harder if it’s ones own child. Imagine not being able to afford treatment that could save your child’s life. However, for some this is their harsh reality. People have to sell everything they have, leave their home and come to a big city to seek medical help. All this while praying for their child’s survival from a disease they know nothing about. Only to arrive and realise that sleeping out on the footpath during the cold winter months isn’t possible. Parents proceed to seek warmth in overcrowded street shelters, not realising that this is compromising their child’s already weak immune system.
On one hand, these families are battling cancer, it’s treatment and side effects while on the other struggling to even keep themselves and their child warm on the streets. Your contribution towards this winter campaign for procuring blankets would help provide the children and their families warmth and comfort, things that are considered basic necessities.
Each blanket costs Rs 500/- and will be distributed to needy children with cancer and their families.
