The Gold Hero Awards for Outstanding Contributions to Childhood Cancer Care
The awards were conferred by Indian High Commissioner Dr. Shilpak Ambule upon two very special individuals.
First, Arvind Tiku and AT Capital Foundation, for driving Universal Health Coverage. Mr. Tiku recognises that no family should go bankrupt, lose their assets, become impoverished or go deeper into poverty when a child gets sick with cancer. Since 2013, he has supported the treatment of 100 children. Over the last decade, his
generous support of over USD 1 million has enabled over 2,100 children with cancer across India to receive lifesaving treatment.
Second, our long-time supporter Kanaka Sirpal, for her contributions to the Right RB India campaign. It is thanks to the sustained efforts of individuals like Ms. Sirpal that more children with Retinoblastoma (eye cancer) are reaching treating centres than other childhood cancers. Even as we observe Retinoblastoma Week in May 2024, we remember the impact that Ms. Sirpal on Childhood Cancer Care.
