The National Outreach Program aims to deliver CanKids KidsCan models for Change for Childhood Cancer in India and holistic patient-centred care to children with cancer and their families across the country. ​

CanKids Hospital Support Units

​CanKids partners with the childhood cancer treating centres and hospital administrations, providing dedicated manpower, social support services, building capacities, promoting and conducting research and filling whatever gaps need to be filled each year to enable families who reach the centre to get best standards of treatment care and support. ​

Beginning with four treating centres in 2004, today it partners and works with 121 childhood cancer treating centres across 53 cities in 22 states to:
  • Identify needs and gaps
  • Provide social support teams and holistic social support services (social workers, database managers, psychologists, nutritionists, teachers, ​and parents and childhood cancer survivors who work as patient navigators and advocates)
  • Build capacities of health and social support professionals
  • Promote and supporting research and impact assessment
  • Advocate for children with cancer and their families to treating teams and hospital administrations.  ​

Change for Childhood Cancer 

CanKids works with state governments and all relevant stakeholders to ensure that families get best Access2Care – through appropriate knowledge of where to go, timely diagnosis and treatment, shared care and continuity of care, awareness, and access to care information and resources.

​A state-by-state focus helps in looking at epidemiology, mapping treatment centres, systematically building a network of access to care and support, creating awareness and advocating for childhood cancer control plans, policies, and programs to State Governments. 

We have a presence in 15 states and union territories: Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu & UT Puducherry, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand, Delhi NCR, Punjab & UT Chandigarh (also covering Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Ladakh, and Jammu & Kashmir), Maharashtra, Goa, North East region, Gujarat & UT Daman, Diu, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Bihar & Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, and ​Odisha.​

CanKids has MoUs with six state governments to improve Access2Care for children with cancer.

Regional & State Care Coordination Centres

​CanKids' delivers crucial services in 53 cities across India through our signature program, YANA (You Are Not Alone). The program assists patients and their families at every step of the way, from detection, to treatment, and after. Our Regional and State Care Coordination Centres (RCCC/SCCC) act as Hubs for Change for Childhood Cancer. ​These centres perform the following six functions:

Geographical Reach

Through our 15 State Projects, CanKids has reach in 89% of total states and Union Territories (UTs) which covers 72,085 (94%) of Childhood Cancer Incidence out of 76,805 per year. Out of 37 states UTs, we have reach in 33.

​The total reach through our state project is 23681 (32.85%).

CanKids has signed MoUs with the State Governments of Punjab, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. We are grateful to each for their support.
