Retinoblastoma (RB) is a rare form of cancer that rapidly develops from the immature cells of a retina, the light-detecting tissue of the eye. It is the most common primary malignant intraocular cancer in children, and it is almost exclusively found in young children.
Almost half of children with retinoblastoma have a hereditary genetic defect associated with retinoblastoma. In other cases, it is caused by a congenital mutation in the chromosome 13 gene 13q14 (retinoblastoma protein).
The most common and obvious sign of retinoblastoma is an abnormal appearance of the retina as viewed through the pupil, the medical term for which is leukocoria, also known as amaurotic cat's eye reflex. Other signs and symptoms include deterioration of vision, a red and irritated eye with glaucoma, and faltering growth or delayed development. Some children with retinoblastoma can develop a squint, commonly referred to as "cross-eyed" or "wall-eyed" (strabismus).

- Crossed eyes or eyes that do not point in the same direction (strabismus), which can cause squinting;
- A change in the color of the colored part of the eye (iris); redness, soreness, or swelling of the eyelids; and
- Blindness or poor vision in the affected eye or eyes
- Poor vision in one eye or both the eyes
Purpose:
- To facilitate the availing of a unique disability identity card to every entitled childhood cancer patient or survivor.
- To facilitate the child with blindness to a blind school where they continue their education

Process for the admission in a Blind School
- CanKids Social Support Team to identify the child with Retinoblastoma (Bilateral) at CK treating centers.
- Social Support Team to counsel patient and their parents about continuing their education after the treatment
- Social Support Team to identify the blind school for the brail education nearby the child’s native place and speak to the school staff.
- Regular follow-up with the parents to understand to ensure the child go admitted in the school
- Facilitate the admission process for the child in a particular school

- Social Support Team to counsel patient and their parents about continuing their education after the treatment
- Social Support Team to identify the school nearby the child’s native place and speak to the school staff.
- Regular follow-up with the parents to understand to ensure the child go admitted in the school
- Facilitate the admission process for the child in a particular school
